Copia vs EveryDollar

An honest comparison of Copia and EveryDollar. Both are zero-based. EveryDollar is the Dave Ramsey app. Copia is $4.99/month for bank sync, with a free manual plan and more automation.

The short version

EveryDollar and Copia both start from zero-based budgeting. You give every dollar a job. EveryDollar is built around Dave Ramsey's Baby Steps, with a free manual app and EveryDollar Plus at $17.99/month (or about $80/year) for bank connections.

Copia is also zero-based. The free plan is a full manual sheet. Bank sync and automation are $4.99/month. There is no Ramsey curriculum, no Baby Steps tracker, and no coaching upsell.

If you want the Ramsey system and teaching, EveryDollar is the honest pick. If you want the method without the $18 sync price, that is us.

Where EveryDollar is better

EveryDollar has been in the App Store for years, with iOS and Android apps. The Ramsey content, classes, and Baby Steps framing are the reason a lot of people open it. Plus includes household features tied to that ecosystem. Copia does not teach a money class and does not have store listings yet.

If you are already in Financial Peace and want the matching app, stay there. We are not trying to be Ramsey.

Where Copia is better

Paid bank sync is where the price gap shows up. EveryDollar Plus is $17.99/month. Copia is $4.99/month for sync plus rules, AI categorization, receipts with line items, photo import, insights, tags, a calendar, and an assistant that can change the budget after you confirm.

The Copia free plan is also a full budget, not a teaser for Plus. Custom categories are unlimited. Recurring charges, CSV import and export, and Smooth History (matching manual or imported rows when a bank reconnects) are part of how we actually keep a budget when connections flake.

Pricing

EveryDollar is free to budget by hand. Plus is $17.99/month or about $80/year. Copia is free to budget by hand, and $4.99/month for bank sync and automation. That Copia price is beta pricing, and we will tell you before it ever changes.

Switching

Export your register if EveryDollar gives you a CSV, or enter recent months by hand, then connect the bank in Copia. Categories will need to be rebuilt. If you used EveryDollar for Baby Steps tracking, that part will not come over. The budget sheet will.
