Copia as a Mint Alternative
Copia was built by two people who lost Mint too. A free tier for manual budgeting and $4.99/month for bank sync, without ads or data selling.
We lost Mint too
Copia exists because Mint shut down. We went looking for a replacement and everything that covered the basics cost $14.99/month or more. That felt wrong for something Mint had done for free, so we built our own. Two of us work on Copia and we run our own budgets in it every day.
What carries over from Mint
The things most people actually used Mint for are all here. Bank connections through Plaid sync your accounts and transactions automatically. Categories and auto-categorization keep spending organized, and a rules engine fixes the recurring miscategorizations Mint never learned. Budgets, savings goals, recurring bill tracking, a spending dashboard, and CSV export are all included. You can also import your old Mint CSV export so your history is not lost.
What is different
Mint was free because you were the product. It showed ads and made money recommending credit cards. Copia has no ads and nothing to cross-sell. The manual tier is free, and bank sync with the full feature set is $4.99/month. That is the whole business model, so we work for you and not for advertisers.
Copia also does some things Mint never did. The budget is zero-based, so every dollar gets a job instead of just watching category limits break. Receipt scanning turns paper receipts into categorized line items. The Copia Assistant can answer questions about your spending and make approved changes to your budget.
What we do not have yet
Honesty matters more to us than a longer feature list. Copia does not have net worth tracking, credit score monitoring, or household sharing today. If those were your favorite parts of Mint, Monarch Money covers them for $14.99/month. If budgeting was the core of your Mint habit, Copia covers that for a third of the price, and our public changelog shows how quickly the rest is arriving.
Getting started
Export your Mint data as CSV if you still have it, create a free Copia account, and import it with the wizard. You can budget manually for free as long as you like, and add bank sync for $4.99/month when you are ready. That price is beta pricing, and we will tell you before it ever changes.
Try Copia for free
Manual budgeting is free forever, no card required. Bank sync and everything else is $4.99/month while we are in beta.
