AI categorization

New transactions get a subcategory from your history and merchant patterns. You can always change it, and corrections feed the next guess.

The Problem

Bank categories are coarse. "Shops" does not tell you if that was Target household stuff or Target groceries. Manually fixing hundreds of rows every month is why people quit.

What it is

When transactions import (from a bank, a CSV, or a photo), Copia suggests a subcategory using merchant names, your past choices, and the category list you already have. You can change any row. Recategorizing can update similar transactions or become a rule for next time.

AI categorization is part of the $4.99/month plan. On the free plan you still assign categories yourself.

Why it matters

The budget sheet is only as good as the categories underneath it. We wanted the first guess to be close enough that we only fix the exceptions.
