September 3, 2026 update. Catching up, mobile apps, and what is next

Hello all. It has been a while since we have written a blog post, and I wanted to take some time to give some updates on what we did in August, what we have to look forward to in Copia, and some of what we are thinking for the short term. If you want to see a running list of the changes we have made throughout the months, you can check out the change log.

What landed in August

Here are the high-level changes we made throughout August.

  • iOS and Android. We spent a lot of August building the Copia iOS and Android app. Migrating pages over, polishing them, and smoothing out the overall experience. This should be ready by the end of September.
  • Import. Import now covers CSV and photos. You can upload a bank statement, have Copia pull the transactions off that statement, store them, and use AI to categorize them against the categories you already use. When your bank syncs later, those transactions should not come in again as duplicates. Copia reconciles what you imported with whatever shows up from the connection next.
  • Insights. Monthly averages, clearer month-over-month and year-over-year comparisons, and a way to hide categories from the totals.
  • UI updates. Transactions, the dashboard, and a few other screens got easier to use. Filters and actions are easier to reach, dashboard layout sticks when you rearrange it, and you can delete your Copia account from Profile if you need to leave.

Referrals

We recently shipped a referral program that lets you copy a link from the Referrals page and send it to people you know. If they sign up and make it to their second month, you get a month credit on your account.

Bank connections that do not kick you off

If you have used Monarch Money, Rocket Money, or honestly almost any budgeting app with bank linking, you already know this pain. Connections drop. You get kicked off. Then you re-authenticate and wait, hoping the next sync actually brings your transactions in, and that it does not duplicate the ones you already have. That duplication issue is what those apps struggle with. Copia reconciles the transactions, so a reconnect does not turn into a pile of duplicates.

We are actively researching and trying to figure out the best solutions for bank syncing.

That includes the import path we already have. CSV is there, and you can import from a photo of a receipt or a purchase so you are not stuck typing every row by hand. We also have ideas around using the assistant and other tools so a flaky connection does not turn into a pile of manual busywork. None of that replaces a solid bank sync. It is a backup so you can keep budgeting while we work on the connection side.

What we are pointing at next

Here is what we are looking at next.

  • Household and partner sharing. Per our research, we see that this feature is a common ask for budgeting apps. People want to share bank accounts and budgets with a partner or a household without everyone living in one login. We want to work on that.
  • A yearly price. Right now Copia is monthly. We want a yearly option so you can pay for the year up front if that is how you prefer to subscribe.
  • Marketing. We have been putting more time into the public site and into actually telling people Copia exists. We are picking up users. We are getting some traction. We still have to work at it.
  • iOS and Android. Getting the apps into the App Store and Google Play is still the biggest thing on the list.

We will share a fuller roadmap update in the near future.

How the team is feeling

As a team, we feel pretty great and confident about where Copia is. There is still a lot on our plate. Technical work, marketing, talking with our stakeholders, taking feedback, fixing bugs, monitoring, and making sure security is solid. We want to thank everyone who has given feedback and everyone who has been involved with Copia. Our goal is to keep making this a premium product at an affordable price.

If you are using Copia and have feedback, or you have been waiting on mobile, household sharing, or a yearly plan, we are listening. You can find us on Discord.
